| For those of you who do not know what the X-Prize is, its a $10 million + award given to the person or team that achieves a specific goal set by the X-Prize Foundation . This was all started with the Ansari X-Prize which was to launch a ship that could carry at least 3 people 100km from earth's surface, twice within two weeks. As noted in hplus magazine's article, this time its about exploring inner space. "The Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) X PRIZE will reward nothing less than a team that provides vision to the blind, new bodies to disabled people, and perhaps even a geographical “sixth sense” akin to a GPS iPhone app in the brain." While this may seem far-fetched now, with this kind of incentive it shouldn't be to long before we can look forward to becoming part machine, part man. |
