I grew up listening to funk, jazz, rock, and hip hop. Hip-hop culture always interested me and having my brother Jim Mahfood (40ozcomics.com or myspace.com/mahfood) to guide me in learning the elements had a huge impact. So, I decided a few years ago to do something with my love of music and not just be a listener.
Since I have played in 3 different crews ( Essence of Logic, The Frozen Food Section, & Earthworms), won "Best Hip Hop DJ" and Earthworms crowned "Best Hip Hop Artist/Group" in the 2006 Riverfont Times Music Awards-both were nominated in 2007, released a number of albums, and made countless album appearances.
In my 5 years on the decks, I've has performed all over the U.S. and shared the stage with such notable acts as: DJ Z-Trip, Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5), Lyrics Born, Ozomatli, Blueprint, Count Bass D, Grayskul, The Rootdown Soundsystem, Drunken Immortals, 2Mex, C Rayz Walz, and many more.
